Reading Roundup Wrapup: November 2015

Earth humans with nothing better to do ought to check out my review of The Worlds of Big Finish at Unreality SF, part of my ongoing attempt to make the term "cross-through" a thing people actually say. And now, on to:

Pick of the month: Nothing O'Clock by Neil Gaiman. This is Neil Gaiman at his creepy best, a much superior Doctor Who story to "Nightmare in Silver." The villains have such a wonderful modus operandi, and he fills the book with nice little touches that really bring it to life. This only just edged out Strange Apparitions, which might be the platonic ideal of an ordinary Batman story.

All books read:
1. Star Wars: Dark Nest II: The Unseen Queen by Troy Denning
2. Star Wars: Dark Nest III: The Swarm War by Troy Denning
3. Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes by Geoff Johns
4. Bernice Summerfield XI: Missing Adventures edited by Rebecca Levene
5. The Transformers Classics, Vol. 1 by Bob Budiansky with Bill Mantlo, Ralph Macchio, and Jim Salicrup
6. Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor: Nothing O'Clock by Neil Gaiman
7. Gothic Science Fiction, 1818 to the Present by Sian MacArthur
8. Batman: Strange Apparitions by Steve Englehart with Len Wein
9. Batman: Second Chances by Max Alan Collins and Jim Starlin with Jo Duffy

All books acquired:
1. The Influencing Machine: Brooke Gladstone on the Media illustrated by Josh Neufeld
2. The New Annotated Dracula edited by Leslie S. Klinger
3. Broodhollow: Angleworm by Kris Straub
4. Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell
5. An Introduction to Book History by David Finkelstein and Alistair McCleery

Fun fact: four out of five of these were complimentary publisher copies!
